My fellow Aussie writer and ex-model comme moi, Tara Moss, has a lovely blog within which she has recently been sharing and showing and telling about the desks of writers! Mine is sparse and white on the right. The others are like dreams, and super splendid. Having said what I said about my desk – I do tend to write more on my couch or bed than anywhere else. Very Proustian of me. But I also believe Descartes (or was it Nietzsche?) was also fond of writing in bed.
Making me sleepy already. (But apparently the yawn is good not bad news for ze brain) Have you been visiting my photo diary recently? Following my twitescapades? Do you know this amazing Anna Piaggi in the making? I love Tavi.
Also contemplating a re-route from NYC back to Australia because apparently I am too much of an ALIEN on this extraordinary alien Visa – IMG need to give permission, or transfer sponsorship, in order for me to work as a writer in this alien land! So I might need to leave again. The road is getting narrower, the open plain that this
journey was at the start has suddenly turned into a very slim, slimey, and narrow tunnel, with small light at the end. I’m not really complaining though, going back to Australia will give me a chance to finish my novel, write my screenplay, see my 3 of my old friend’s new babies, snorkel and lie on the sand, drive into the red desert, and not worry about being crushed by the cruel fist of a New York winter. What doesn’t kill you only makes you “Stranger” said a friend of mine tonight while he sipped his white wine gleefully, after we’d sent 89 text messages. What? Stranger? I do feel the urge for strangeness coming on, (yes, Tavi is encouraging me from across the land!)
So unless I instantly become benefactor to a great fortune, or IMG assents to becoming the trampoline for my writing, to launch me into the stratosphere – I have a lot of work (and again, traveling) to do.
I feel like Conan on the Tonight Show, getting shuffled further and further back into the shade of the darkest night. After all we’ve worked for! Why, God, why! I’m with you Cone. We will shake our pale fists with lanky elbows at the Gods for wreaking this unheard of wrath upon us. (Weirdly, we are actually in very similar situations = NBC/ IMG. Choice to jump ship or stay on and make magic happen during the coldest of winters/ latest of time slots.)
I also miss my brothers a lot, so a quick trip to Australia while I sort out my Visa isn’t looking so bad.
However, I will miss Jon with a chronic heartache. The only other option is to get hitched. Do you guys feel like coming to a wedding in Big Sur sometime?
At this point it looks like I need either:
1) a literary agent,
2) a deal with Paramount/ Warner Bros/ Universal pictures,
3) a wedding dress,
or
4) all of the above (definitely my choice of preference!)

Much luck! You have the strength and vision to succeed with whatever should transpire. New York does not want to you leave, but I agree, the winter is brutal, this one especially. Beach, sun, and sand sounds like a good idea right about now. If you do make your move, come back soon, and please keep updating your blog, it’s a joy to read.
Bonjour chère Sophie!
I think the diversity given us from the seasons is lovely…
As well here in Switzerland we had a cold winter, snow for Christmas and nowthe white mantle still cover up the mountains.
So lovely to look at!
When I used to travel around, some time during the winter I had temperature differences up to 50° Celsius (Zurich snow covered runways with –10°… Singapore 40° with air-conditioning blowing frizzing air).
Now I swing with the seasons and, maybe because of my age, I love it.
Pity… I never being in Australia but I heard a lot of wonderful stories-trips… This is one country I wish to travel across (spend there with my family at least one month) ‘cause is so big and there is so much to see…
Nice clean desk area you have… much unlike mine, for sure! I have a lot of my kids pictures all around… this help me to keep up my mood even when I’m tired or when I had a bad day
at every hours of the day. I love them all… they are part of our life and they make us feel good.
Some time is very difficult to be able to get every thing done (writing when I have the “real good” inspiration) because of our cats… we have 10 inside or house and at least 10 outdoor. These came for brunch
As for your wishes… I’m sure you will get them all quite soon!

Keep focusing into it… the “whish” is a powerful tool… and when the right moment came, the “door” will open up for you.
It has always been that way for myself
There is just one small detail: you really have to whish it with all your strength… and be ready to let something else go…
Maybe one day I’ll explain this better…
It was nice talk to you… now I’ll take a good book and read a little until I’m very tired!
I started a novel written by Antonin Gadal: philosophy and theology… very intriguing and giving me a lot of new ideas for my actual work.
Take care, serenity

Claudine! You are great. Thank you. I am ready to let many things go. You are so right. Clearing the old to make way for the new. Keep in touch. Thank you for your email. Let’s keep writing. Stay in the loop.
ps. (I think I’m going to have to read that novel by Antonin Gadal too. Philosophy and theology are right up my alley. I did study the Philosophy of Religion at one point…)
Am “whishing” with all my strength. You are magic. xx
